While Pivotal’s programming traditionally ends when a scholar graduates from college, for many of our scholars, graduation is just the beginning. They now face new challenges: finding jobs, settling into professions, or navigating post-graduate programs. They still need connection and community as they move into their adult lives.
That's where the Pivotal Alumni Association comes in. Every Pivotal graduate is invited to be part of this group of alumni who come together to support one another and build community as they continue to face challenges and build their lives beyond school.
We know that when foster care alumni receive resources, recognition, and healthy relationships, they become luminaries who can create lasting change. With 120+ members, the Association represents the next phase of healing and growth for alumni ready to transform individual success into collective impact.
VISION: A thriving, intergenerational community of former foster youth scholars who uplift one another and champion the success of current Pivotal scholars and foster youth/alumni.
MISSION: To actively engage Pivotal Alumni in meaningful ways that enhance and empower their personal, professional, and leadership journeys. The Alumni Association fosters a supportive community and network of evolving professionals, rooted in shared experiences, belonging, and opportunities.

HISTORY
Pivotal, formerly known as the Silicon Valley Children's Fund, has been focused on foster youth for 35 years and has served more than 25,000 youth from foster care over the years. In 2020, a group of alumni scholars came together to form the Pivotal Alumni Network which was officially chartered in 2024 under the new moniker, "Pivotal Alumni Association."
The Alumni Association serves all alumni of the Pivotal (and Silicon Valley Children's Fund) program. The Pivotal Alumni Association is a trauma-informed community of 120+ foster care alumni who have completed the Pivotal program and achieved post-secondary education success.
Operating as a community-building initiative under Pivotal's 501(c)(3) umbrella, the Alumni Association proves that when foster care alumni receive resources, recognition, and healthy relationships, they become luminaries who create lasting change. The association represents the next phase of healing and growth for alumni ready to transform individual success into collective impact.
