Pivotal Career Day at Equinix

What happens when you bring together ambitious young scholars and some of the leading minds in digital infrastructure?  

Recently, Pivotal hosted an unforgettable Career Day at the offices of our corporate partner, Equinix. Equinix connects organizations through secure, reliable, and sustainable data centers. Six post-secondary scholars and one high school scholar had the opportunity to tour Equinix’s state-of-the-art facilities alongside Pivotal staff members Ashley, Adam, Brian, and Saoirse. The day was filled with opportunities for scholars to connect with professionals, explore various career pathways, and develop their networking skills. 

Connecting Scholars with Industry Professionals 

The event began with a roundtable discussion, during which scholars engaged with Equinix employees from various departments, including engineering, marketing, HR, and sales. Scholars learned about the different roles within the company, the skills required for those positions, and how to chart a path toward success in the tech industry. 

Networking in Action 

A key component of the day was the opportunity for scholars to practice their networking skills. Pivotal staff and Equinix employees facilitated one-on-one conversations, allowing scholars to ask questions and receive personal advice. Scholars were encouraged to refine their skills in a real-world setting while receiving guidance from the welcoming professionals at Equinix. 

An Inside Look at Equinix 

Throughout the day, Equinix went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. The company hosted a delicious lunch, during which scholars, coaches, and employees had the opportunity to continue their conversations in a more relaxed atmosphere.  

One of the event’s highlights was the tour of Equinix’s data center, where scholars gained an exclusive view of the state-of-the-art technology that powers Equinix’s global infrastructure. Donald Lee, a member of Equinix’s team, led the group on a detailed tour and offered insights into the operations behind the company’s services. 

A Final Word of Gratitude 

We are incredibly thankful to Equinix for providing our scholars with this fantastic opportunity to explore career pathways, practice networking, and learn about a leading global company. Our scholars expressed how much they valued the opportunity to learn about Equinix and the chance to connect and learn from friendly and supportive professionals.
