On October 8, we welcomed more than 400 people to Mix Masters 2020. Since we couldn’t gather in person this year, we created an over-the-top virtual happy hour! Thanks to our generous guests and sponsors, we raised more than $125,000 for Pivotal scholarships and programs!

We kicked off the festivities with a live mixology class by Amy O’Neil of Host Events, who led us through the steps to craft two exceptional drinks (Check out the recipes below!). With cocktails in hands, our guests jumped into the live auction where the bidding was fast and fierce. Within minutes, our amazing supporters scooped up all five auction items!

At the heart of the program, we heard from Pivotal alumna and board member, Lupe Diaz, who shared her personal experience in foster care and highlighted the important role Pivotal played in her life. As Lupe said, “Through all of my struggles, I always had Pivotal. A place I could call for guidance and support. They stuck by me and continue to be part of my family.”

Just like in prior years, the Pivotal Master of Change Award brought us heartwarming stories of people in our community who are stepping up to help foster youth. This year, we received more than 50 Master of Change award nominations from our students and alumni. Each heartfelt nomination was filled with immense gratitude. A panel of our alumni selected Emilio Perdomo, who was nominated by Pivotal Scholar, Ximena Bastidas.

We are deeply touched by the incredibly generous turnout at Mix Masters 2020. Special thanks to everyone who donated, and to our $10,000 matching gift challenge donors, Regis and Dianne McKenna!

And for those of you who are wondering about the next Pivotal Party, keep an eye out for your invitation to 80’s Family Bingo Night on November 19th. Free admission. Unlimited fun.
